Obituary

Sherman Lee Masters, age 85, of Spicer, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 14, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. 

 

A visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, at the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer.  Interment will follow the visitation at 6:45 p.m. at Oak Side Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

 

Sherman Lee Masters was born on September 4, 1935, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Leo and Aileen (Johnson) Masters.  He grew up in Spicer, was baptized and confirmed at the Spicer Presbyterian Church and graduated from Willmar High School in 1954.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1958 to 1960, before being medically discharged.  On July 9, 1966, in Spicer, Sherman was united in marriage to Estella Lillian Mead and they lived in the communities of Hawick, Willmar and Spicer.  He was employed at the Spicer Grain Elevator Plant, Trinity Industries in New London, Willmar Manufacturing and the Burlington Northern Railroad.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, attending auctions and spending time with his grandchildren.

 

He is survived by three children, Karen (and Dan) Louwagie of Cottonwood, Mary (and Keith) Roediger of Darwin and Wayne (and Liz) Mead of Mesa, AZ.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Also surviving are three siblings, twin sister, Shirley (and Elmer) Mead of Spicer, Linda (and Leland) Lundberg of Spicer and John (and Martha) Masters of Iron, besides other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.
