Jesus Lopez, age 64, of Willmar, died unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack on Monday morning, Feb. 24, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, at the Willmar Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Jesus Lopez was born on January 3, 1956, in Skidmore, Texas, the son of Manuel and Isabel (Randon) Lopez. He grew up and received his education in Lubbock, Texas. On March 24, 1976, Jesus was united in marriage to Julia Sandoval. They made their home in Lubbock where he was employed as a welder for Eagle Picture Manufacturing. In 1994, they moved to Willmar, Minnesota. Jesus was employed at Jennie-O Foods for 6 years before working at Trouw Nutrition for 12 years, retiring in 2019. Jesus also served as a pastor for over 10 years in outreach ministry. He enjoyed Bible study, sharing God’s word and was a faithful Christian.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julia of Willmar; three daughters, Delores Lopez, Jessica (and Jesus) Garcia and Helen (and Eloy) Rodriguez, all of Willmar; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Domingo Lopez and Manuel (and Patricia) Lopez; eight sisters, Rebecca Saldana, Isabel Doherty, Julia Garcia, Elvira Hernandez, Isabel Hernandez, Manuela Guzman, Amelia Oyervidez, Eloisa Lopez Rodriguez, and Mary R. Lopez, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jesus Jr.; and two brothers, Pete and Juan Manuel Lopez.
