Shirley Klein

March 8, 1935 — December 15, 2020

Shirley Janice Klein, age 85 of Willmar,  passed away Tuesday, December 15, at the Carris Health  Rice Care Center in Willmar.

Due to COVID there will be a celebration of life held at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.  Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Shirley Janice Klein was born to Thomas and Daisy Dunn (Imler) on March 8, 1935, in Carrington, ND.  She was married to Roger Klein on September 17, 1953. Together they had 4 girls and 2 boys.  She worked various retail jobs over the years including Herbergers, Yonkers and Catherines.  She enjoyed going for walks with her pet dogs and she loved to travel—especially to Las Vegas and Hawaii.  Shirley also loved to go to casinos and attend events. She attended Super Bowl II and III, made it on “The Price is Right” and even attended an Elvis concert!  She was a wonderful cook and some of her best dishes included rice stuffing for Thanksgiving and her famous haluski.  She also made the best fruit salad, which was loved by many.  Shirley had a quick wit and a great sense of humor that would bring a smile to your face.  She will truly be missed by her loved ones.

She is survived by three daughters, Vicky (and Mark) Therkildsen, Teri (and James) Benson and Tracy (and Kevin) Richardson; two sons, RW (and Micki) Klein and Michael (and Jennie) Klein, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Klein; one daughter, Denice Jackson; one granddaughter, Christine Benson; her parents; seven brothers and three sisters.
