Obituary


Rocile A. Sokolosky, age 99, of Willmar and formerly of Atwater, passed away Sunday, April 5, at Cura of Willmar.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon followed by her celebration of life service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. A private interment will be held at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Rocile's life may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Atwater Area Help For Seniors. Rocile Annie Sokolosky was born to Roy & Lena (Becke) Fredin on March 15, 1927, in Winthrop, MN. She was baptized at Bismark Lutheran Church in Winthrop and confirmed at Mountville Lutheran Church in Gaylord in 1941.  She attended District 51 elementary school near Winthrop and Mountville Lutheran School in Gaylord. She worked for families with children and also at Green Giant Canning Factory for several seasons.

In July of 1947, she married Adolph Sokolosky at Mountville Lutheran Church, and they moved to New Auburn. Parents of 5 children, Betty, Carol, Joey, Lori & Amy. In January 1963 they moved to Atwater. She was a stay-at-home Mom until September 1972 when she went to work as cook and then head cook at the Atwater Public School. She worked there for 17 years until 1989. She was retired for 1 year and then accepted a position with Atwater DAC and later transferred to Kandi-Works DAC in Kandiyohi until winter of 2007 after 17 years with operating punch presses and other work jobs.

Rocile was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1963 where she served as Secretary for Ladies Aid and also several terms as a member of the Altar Guild.

She is survived by her children: Betty Sokolosky of Willmar, Carol (Jerrel) Hintz of Atwater, Joey Sokolosky of Watertown, SD, Lori (Mark) Hutchinson of Atwater and Amy (Scott Heuchert) Kalkbrenner of Spicer, 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She also has one sister, Doris Hopp of Nicollet.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Adolph; son-in-law, Scott Kalkbrenner; adopted daughter, Sharon Bovie; four brothers, Donald in infancy, Stanley, Nelford and Wayne Fredin and one sister, Lois Pagel.
