November 15, 1948 — July 13, 2022

Randy G. Travis, age 73, of Willmar, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 13, at his residence from an apparent heart attack.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, at the Word of Faith Church in Willmar.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment with military honors will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 20, at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

 

Randy George Travis was born on November 15, 1948, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of George and Dorothy (Colee) Travis.  He grew up in Browerville and graduated from Browerville High School in 1966.  From 1968-1971, Randy served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam.  On July 11, 1970, Randy was married to Janet Marie Barton and they lived in the Willmar community.  He was employed as a supervisor at Jennie-O Foods and then worked with Vreeman Construction.  In 2008, Randy retired due to health reasons.  He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, decorating his back yard, visiting area casinos and the DQ.  He also enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Randy was a member of the Willmar American Legion Post #167.

 

He is survived by two daughters, Angela (and Jeremy) Olander of Willmar and Amanda Smith (and fiancé, Richard) of Willmar; six grandchildren, Emma (and special friend, Jackson), Hailey, Ava, Peyton, Ryder, and Zoey;  and one sister, Judy Galbrecht of Wayzata, besides other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Arlene Travis and one brother-in-law, John Galbrecht.
