Pearl Helmer

Pearl Amanda Helmer, age 85, of Murdock and formerly of New London and Sunburg, died Friday morning, June 9, at the Homestead Place in Murdock.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 17, at the Sunburg Funeral Home with Rev. David Rogers officiating. Interment will be at the Sunburg Free Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pearl was born on February 12, 1921, in Terrace, Minnesota, the daughter of Svedrup O. and Whilemina J. (Larson) Midtun. She grew up and received her education in the Terrace community and was baptized and confirmed at the Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church and worked on her brother's farm. In August of 1954, Pearl was united in marriage to Hans Helmer. They lived and worked in the New London area.
She is survived by two children, Alice (and Mike) Holtz of O'Fallon, MO and Gordon Helmer of Berkeley, CA; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hans in 1983; one sister, Sylvia and two brothers, Leslie and Gilman.
