Paul Edward Overlie

Paul E. Overlie, age 55, of Atwater, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 15, at his residence. 


A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Cornerstone Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.


Paul Edward Overlie was born on February 7, 1967, in Boulder, Colorado, the son of Rolf and Marlys (Hanthorn) Overlie. He grew up in Mounds View and later in Atwater. He graduated from AGC High School in 1985 and then attended Willmar Community College to earn his AA degree. He married his high school sweetheart Laura Schwarz and they were blessed by a daughter, Erica. He graduated from Mankato State University in 1993 with a double major in psychology and biology. Paul was very passionate with cooking and became a very talented chef in creating new dishes to be served at many different restaurants he worked in. He also worked as a general contractor for many years in Washington state and also helped his oldest brother build a church and parsonage in Lowman, Idaho.


He returned to Atwater in 2009 to assist his mother with rental property and lake shore property.  In the fall of 2010, he met his future wife, as they both became members of the Litchfield Christian Church.  Paul married Connie McDonald (Morrow ) on April 22, 2011, and they united two families.


Paul enjoyed cooking for others at Peters on Lake Ripley, Perkins in Willmar, Pizza Ranch in Litchfield, and at Celebrate Recovery at Cornerstone Church in Litchfield.


Paul is survived by wife, Connie; two daughters, Erica (and Todd) Manoupath and Kelsey Overlie; two sons, Jacob Overlie and Joshua Overlie; one step-son, Robert (and Annie) Morrow; two grandsons, Flint and Felix and one granddaughter, Amara.   Also surviving is his father, Rolf (and Carole) Overlie; his mother, Marlys Haag; one brother, Wade (and Shelly) Overlie; two step-sisters, Mary (and Trent) Steffy and Chris (and Mike) Yeganeh; and one aunt, Rene Laurene; his best friend, Tony Pratt, besides many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. 


He was preceded in death by a nephew, Isaiah; a brother, Robin; and his grandparents.
