Paul was born on September 2, 1971, in Salinas, California. He grew up in Calexico, California where he attended grade school and later moved to and graduated from Oceanside High School in Oceanside, California.  On December 13, 2010, Paul was married to Carie Hignight, and they lived and worked in the Imperial Valley until relocating to Minnesota in 2019. Upon his arrival in Minnesota, he and his family lived in Sacred Heart for a short while until he and his wife and children moved to a home in Willmar.

When Paul relocated to Minnesota in 2019, he went to work for Southern Minnesota Sugar Beet Cooperative until he passed away.  He had previously worked for the Sugar Beet plant in Brawley, California. Paul made a lot of great friends at his place of employment.  Paul often referred to his work friends as "his extended family".  He often stated, "I love my work and I love the people I work with".  He was always willing to go in to do overtime just so he could spend time with his friends and provide a good life for his family, Paul was never afraid to do hard work.

During his days off, some of Paul's favorite things to do were watch Marvel movies and spend time with his dog Cookie at the dog park playing fetch or taking him for walks.   Paul also loved fishing, exploring the beautiful nature of Minnesota and spending time with his wife Carie.  Paul was very friendly and outgoing and always had a beautiful smile and laughter to match.  He loved his family, his friends, his dog and his job very much. Paul was a man of his word and a loyal friend and husband.

Paul is survived by his Wife, Carie; Stepsons, Luis and Christopher Ruiz and Stepdaughter, Azariah Sampson; Mother, Jennie (Shawn) Marlborough; Brother, Ricardo (Veronica) Oros; Sister, Dolores (Danny) Nusi and several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and cousins.

A special Thank You to everyone who donated their time and money to help Paul and his family during this difficult time.  Also, thank you to Bethesda Hospice in Willmar for making sure Paul was comfortable during his last days.
