Orville Kallevig

April 22, 1926 — January 28, 2007

Orville V. Kallevig, age 80, of Willmar, died Sunday evening, January 28, at the Rice Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 10:30 A.M. at the Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Timothy Larson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and at the church prior to the service. Military honors will he provided by the American Legion and VFW Posts of Willmar.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; five sons, Tom (and Pam) of Lino Lakes, Gayle (and Gayla) of Willmar, Glenn of Foley, Greg (and Renee) of Bloomington, IL., Dane of Willmar and 7 grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Rev. Lloyd (and Eleanor) Kallevig of Wadena, besides other relatives and friends.
Orville Kallevig was born on April 22, 1922, on the family farm in Willmar Township, the son of Mattias and Sena (Emberland) Kallevig. He grew up in the rural Willmar community, was baptized and confirmed at the Calvary Lutheran Church and in 1943, graduated from the Willmar High School. He served in France and Germany with the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he worked on the railroad and at the Naval Shipyards in Long Beach, CA. Later he returned to Willmar and began farming. On November 9, 1956, in Kerkhoven, he was married to Edna Skogstoe. They lived and farmed northwest of Willmar for many years. Orville was a lifelong member of Calvary Lutheran Church, served on the District 781 School Board, was a member of the American Legion and VFW Posts and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jane Elizabeth in infancy; three brothers and two sisters.
