Nuvillo Gerald Bjork

Nuvillo G. Bjork, age 94, of Sunburg, passed away Wednesday, July 20, at the Marion Manor in Sunburg.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at Monson Lake Lutheran Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by the Belgrade VFW Post.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Sunburg Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Nuvillo was born January 9, 1928, in Minneapolis to Walfred and Lydia Bjork. He lived in Minneapolis until he was 3 and that is when he moved with his family to the farm in Sunburg. August Johnson became Nuvillo’s caretaker when he was seven years old. Nuvillo attended District 17 country school and worked with August on the farm until he was drafted into World War II. By the time he enlisted, the war was over, so he worked several odd jobs until he left to serve in the Korean War in November 1950. He served his country in the 24th Infantry of the Army, attained rank of master sergeant and was honorably discharged 1952.

Nuvillo married Jane Fossen on February 17, 1953, in Elk Point, South Dakota. They moved in with August and took over and bought the farm from August when he was no longer able to do the work. Nuvillo grew corn and beans, had dairy and beef cattle and pigs. He worked very hard and loved the work he did on the farm. He enjoyed spending time at Norway Lake and he and Jane were able to take several trips once they retired from farming in early 1990s. Nuvillo and Jane were able to live on the farm until June of this year. He enjoyed watching the garden grow and the many visits from family each week.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Bjork; four children: Nancy (Jim) Feldman, Ronnie (Connie) Bjork, Dawn Bjork-Pedersen, Darin (Jenny) Bjork; seven grandchildren, Kim (Brian) Sweere, Julie (Jon) Anderson, Jon (Sarah) Feldman, Shaun (Shantel) Feldman, Jared (Tayler) Pedersen, Brandt Pedersen, and Emery Bjork (Jessica Young); eleven great-grandchildren: Tyler Anderson (Holly Hoekstra), Brayden Anderson (Kayla McIver), McKenzie (Larry) Bomstad, Ashlyn Hillenbrand (Andrew Gomez), Lukas Hillenbrand, Kelsey Hillenbrand, Sydney Morris, Gavyn Feldman, Gage Feldman, Addison Feldman and Aubrey Feldman; six great great grandchildren, Bentley Dahl, Brynlee Shea, Bostyn Gomez, Breyah Gomez, Blakely Bomstad and Kinley Bomstad; five step-grandchildren, Levi Sweere, Logan Sweere, Lexi Sweere, Mackenzie (Kendall) Riley and Ian Anderson (Meghan Listerud) and one step-great grandchild, Lennon Riley, besides many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walfred and Lydia Bjork; his care giver, August Johnson; two brothers, Duane (Shirley) Bjork and Arlen (Ramona) Bjork, three sisters, Lois (Clifford) Burnson, Neola (Donnie) Simenson and Evonne (Ben) Leason; nephews, Carrol Burnson, Doug Bjork and a great-granddaughter Avery Feldman.

Service Program

Always enjoyed visiting my aunt and uncle's farm. Uncle Nuvillo had a mischievous way of utilizing my presence to complete "projects" and most certainly to his enjoyment; share a smile which always ended with his contagious laugh:). What a great man who will be dearly missed. Luv ya Aunt Jane
