Norma Jean Smith, age 84, of Willmar and formerly of Kandiyohi, passed away Monday evening, December 18, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Willmar.
A celebration of life service will be held later in January of 2024 at Tripolis Evangelical Lutheran Church near Kandiyohi. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Norma Jean Smith was born on July 1, 1939, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Louise (Marinou) Mohlenbrock. She grew up on a farm near Mountain Lake and received her education from a country school. On August 12, 1961, Norma was united in marriage to Robert William Smith. They lived and farmed near St. James and in 1980, they moved to a farm near Kandiyohi. She worked hard as a homemaker and farm wife raising her two sons, Randy and Robert. She later worked part-time at Bonanza Restaurant and CashWise deli. Norma enjoyed dancing and gardening.
She is survived by her son, Randy of Atwater; two grandsons, Tyler Smith and Jesse Smith and five grat grandchildren, Autumn, Payton and Paislee Smith and Axel and Cash Smith, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert in 2015; her son, Robert in April of 2023; her daughter-in-law, Christine in August of 2016; and her nine siblings.
