Minnie Shelstad

Minnie "Polly" Shelstad, age 79, of Paynesville, died Friday morning, April 8, at Koronis Manor Care Center in Paynesville.


Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Koronis Manor Care Center in Paynesville with Chaplain Pamela Nickel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Koronis Manor Care Center. Interment will be at the Appleton City Cemetery.

Minnie "Polly" Shelstad was born June 19, 1937, in Madison, Arkansas, to Frank and Alma Lankston. She grew up a hillbilly in Arkansas. Her father died when she was only three years old. In 1954, she married William Teas and they had three children, Martha, John, and Elsie. William later died in 1966. She later married William Waddle and they had a daughter Edna. They later divorced. In 1971, she married Reuben Shelstad. They later moved to Willmar, Minnesota, where Polly worked at Jennie-O Foods for several year. Reuben died in 1980. Polly had resided for the past year at the Koronis Manor Care Center in Paynesville.

She is survived by her children, Martha, John, Elsie and Edna; several grandchildren; other family in Arkansas; and her dear friends, Pam and Rose.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William Teas and Reuben Shelstad; and a brother, Joe.
