Matthew D. Hood, age 44, of Atwater, died Tuesday morning, Jun. 12, at his residence.
A Celebration of Life service will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, at the Dethlefs Community Center in Spicer.
Matthew David Hood was born on February 11, 1974, in Paynesville, Minnesota, the son of Patrick and Janice (Van Ort) Hood. He grew up in New London and graduated from New London-Spicer High School in 1992. Matthew was employed for several area contractors in the construction business. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, motorcycling, horses and being outdoors.
He is survived by his parents, Janice Hood (and David Olson) of New London and Patrick (and Gwen) Hood of New London; one sister, Julie (and Paul) Larsen of New London; one niece, Katie Hanson of Spicer; several great nieces and nephews; step siblings, Kristina (and Todd) Wodash and Trevor Dodge, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
