Martha Jean Stutelberg

Martha J. Stutelberg, age 63, of Willmar, passed away Sunday, December 28, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by her celebration of life service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com

Martha was born March 7, 1962, is Glendale California to Carol (Day) and John Hersh. She spent her childhood moving around to many places. This led to her to many experiences in life and also helped foster the feisty, free spirit that she had. She eventually moved to Pine Ridge SD, where she was adopted by Richard Whitecalf, changing her last name from Hersh to Whitecalf. This is where she met her first husband Robert Marshall and they had three children together. Her free spirit led her to move from Pine Ridge to Colorado and eventually to Minnesota. She met her husband Jeffery Stutelberg when she was living in Gluek MN after she had another child. After 7 years together Jeff and Martha where united in Marriage February 14, 1994. They settled on a small farm near Montevideo. In 1999 Martha suffered some medical issues that needed a lot of extra support, and she eventually moved to be taken care of by REM in Montevideo, Health Providers Granite Falls and then Divine House in Willmar.

Martha is survived by four children, Nick Marshall from Sioux Falls, SD, Annjeanel and Kyle Stanton-Bakke from Sioux Falls, SD, Alex Marshall and Rachel Goodrich of St Paul, and Shane (the pretty one) Whitecalf from Canby; nine grandchildren Dominic, Jennifer, Garrett, Jasmine, Cheska, Destiny, Haley, Nicole and Ronan; and nine great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother, Coy Whitecalf from North Dakota and one sister, Tracy Hersh of Pennsylvania, besides many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffery Stutelberg; two brothers and one sister, John, Joe, and Laura as well as her father, John; stepmother, Dee; mother, Carol; and stepfather, Richard.
