Maria Ofelia Diaz, age 65 of Willmar, Minnesota went to heaven peacefully at the Rice Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 around 6 a.m.. She had a difficult, but short, battle against cancer that quickly spread throughout her body.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, at the Word of Faith Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com

Maria was born on April 2, 1952 in Mexico City, Mexico. She married Jose Antonio Diaz legally on November 20, 1976, then at the church on January 21, 1977. Maria and Jose, along with their daughter, moved to Minnesota from Mexico in 1996. She and her husband loved to be a part of their church for fourteen years, and never missed a single Sunday service or Bible study during the week. Maria enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Even from far away, she would contact her family she left behind in Mexico. They knew her as a spiritual and affectionate woman with a warm smile. She was also known for her cooking, as she made every meal for church events and her family with love.

Maria is survived by her husband, Jose Antonio; her siblings, Rafael, Consuelo and Martha; her daughters, Susana and Adriana; her step-children, Jose Antonio Jr., Aurora, Ruben, Claudia Monica and Fernando; fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Cruz; and her mother, Rosario

Tuvo una difícil, pero corta batalla contra el cancer que rápidamente se extendió por su cuerpo.
Maria nació el 2 de abril de 1952 en la Ciudad de México. Se casó con José Antonio Díaz el 20 de Noviembre de 1976 por el civil y el 21 de Enero de 1977 por la iglesia. Maria y José junto con su hija, se mudaron a la ciudad de Willmar en 1996.
Ella y su esposo fueron miembros fieles de su iglesia por más de catorce años, nunca faltando a los servicios dominicales ni reuniones semanales y al igual apoyando cada una de las actividades que ahí se realizaban. A Maria le gustaba pasar tiempo con su familia y amistades. Aun a la distancia siempre se mantuvo en contacto con su familia en Mexico. A Ella se le conocía como una mujer Espiritual y de una cálida sonrisa. A Maria le sobreviven su esposo José Antonio; sus hermanos, Rafael, Consuelo y Martha; sus hijos José Antonio(hijo), Aurora, Rubén, Claudia Mónica, Susana,Fernando y Adriana; Quince nietos y seis bisnietos. Precedida en muerte por sus padres, Jesús Cruz y Rosario Gonzalez.
