Margaret L. Lang, age 89, of Spicer, passed away Thursday, April 2, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.

A private interment will be held at the Fairview Cemetery, Renville MN at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Waters Edge Ministry (Green Lake Bible Camp) are appreciated.  Arrangements are entrusted to Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com

Margaret lived many lives in her 89 years, as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, aunt and sister.

Her life began on June 2, 1936 in rural Renville County where she was born to Arthur and Ada (Anderson) Kottom, the third of eight children. She attended grade school across the road from her home. She graduated from Renville Public Schools in 1954.

In 1955 she married Arthur W Lang and welcomed their first child, while living south of Hector. In 1959, she and Art relocated to New Ulm, MN. She worked at the garment factory until taking a position with 3M in 1962. Her years at 3M involved production line and quality control.

Upon retirement in 2002, she designed and supervised the construction of their home on Green Lake, Spicer, MN (a full-time job according to her). They relocated to Spicer when the home was finished.

Margaret was an avid supporter of the Little Crow Ski Team and traveled to regional and national competitions with the team. She volunteered with the ski team and sold tickets, concessions, and loved babysitting for the skiers’ little ones. She was named Ski Team Fan of the Year in 1993 and 2008.

When the weather did not permit Margaret could always be found with a book or two enjoying her view of the lake or making her world famous apple crisp.

Margaret started attending the Green Lake Bible Camp (Waters Edge Ministry) as a family camper in 1960 and participated in activities through the years.

Her feisty, spunky attitude and sarcastic wit will be missed by all.

Margaret is survived by her children, Theresa Lang (Shoreview and Spicer, MN) and Daniel Lang (Pamela) of Henderson, NV; two grandchildren, Jacqueline Stephenson (Brent) of Henderson, NV and Brennan Lang (Rachel) of Las Vegas, NV. She has three great granddaughters; Colette and Penelope Stephenson and Wyatt Lang; brother Kenneth Kottom, Fridley, MN; sisters Ardyce Tamburro (Don) Westlake Village, CA, and Linda Lecy (Harlan) Echo, MN as well as many extended family that loved spending time with her on Green Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Arthur), brothers Gerald and Richard (Dick) ,sisters Delores and LaVaune and son-in-law Leo Schmeltzer.
