Obituary


Lyndon Arlo Swanson, age 74 of Silver Bay and formerly of Kandiyohi, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 25, 2025, at his home in Silver Bay, Minnesota.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, at the Willmar Bible Church. Interment will be at the Green Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. www.petesonbrothers.com

Lyndon was born on October 23, 1951, the son of Alfred and Mary (Carlock) Swanson. He grew up on the family farm near Kandiyohi and graduated from Willmar High School in 1971. After graduation Lyndon attended AFLC Bible School in Plymouth and then went to Willmar Technical School for chefs training. He moved to Silver Bay and worked as a chef at Cascade Lodge and then Lutsen Resort.

Lyndon always had a passion for rocks. In 2002 he purchased Blue Points Amethyst Mine in Ontario, Canada. He made and sold jewelry from the Lake Superior agates he found and from the amethyst he collected from his mine. Lyndon operated his mine until he retired in October of 2022. He was a local autority sought out for his knowledge of amethyst mining and quality.

He is survived by his two sisters, Noelle Setrum of Indiana, and Lynette (and Alan W.) Olson of Kandiyohi; two brothers, John (and Sharon) Swanson of Moorhead, and Loren (and Barb) Swanson of Brownsdale; besides many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Louise (Swanson Gustafson; two brothers, Alfred Eugene Swanson and Harold Leroy Swanson,
