Louie was born on March 4, 1945, in Camden, New Jersey, to Andrew and Anna Pirrotta. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School, where he would proudly tell anyone he was part of the 1964 state basketball championship team. Quick to add, he couldn’t dribble or shoot, but boy, could he play defense.

His real passion and talent was football, and he went on to the University of Minnesota, Mankato, where he was offered a college football scholarship and pursued a master's degree in education. It was there that he met and fell in love with Alyse “Lisa” Baker. They were married in 1968 and went on to build a life together, raising three children: Christopher, Raea, and Louis Michael.

Louie began his coaching career as a graduate coach at the University of Minnesota, Mankato. Shortly after, he moved to Park Falls, Wisconsin, where he accepted his first teaching position and served as head football coach. During his time there, he built his first home and formed lasting friendships within the community. He was later offered a remarkable opportunity as an assistant coach at the University of Northern Iowa, where he gained valuable experience that would shape the rest of his career in coaching and education.

In 1980, Louie moved to the New London–Spicer area to be closer to his brother Eddie and to raise his family in a small-town setting. There, he became a pillar of the community. He taught high school physical education, health, and driver’s education. In addition to teaching, he coached track and football, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and athletes.

Louie was a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, teacher, coach, and friend. He poured himself into everything he did, building homes, building teams, growing gardens, and most importantly, building a life centered on love and family with his wife, Lisa.

A man of strong faith, Louie was steady in his beliefs and quick with a joke, always able to bring a smile at just the right moment. His legacy will live on through the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and even the simple joys like his unforgettable spaghetti sauce and pizza.

Louie loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, golfer, and gardener. He especially loved gathering people around the table and cooking for them. And if you didn’t have time to stay, he’d make sure you left with a Diet Pepsi and a Dove dark chocolate for the road.

His greatest joy was the family he and Lisa created together.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Pirrotta; their children, Christopher (Jill) Pirrotta of Vergas, MN, Raea Pirrotta (Mark Donovan) of Minot, ND, and Louis Pirrotta (Kim Nash) of Spicer, MN; his grandchildren, Maggan (DJ) Madigan, Samuel (Kate) Pirrotta, Madeline (Seth) Knutson, Anna (Jared Douglas) Cordes, Lilly (Kaden) Bohlsen, Louie Porter Pirrotta, and Melanie Pirrotta; and eight great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, Andrew “Andy” Pirrotta of Sewell, NJ; his sisters, Veronica (William) Kenney of Haddon Heights, NJ, Josephine (Jack) Comly of Lake Placid, FL, and Eleanor (Joseph) Scarduzio of Swedesboro, NJ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Colegero “Joe,” Edward “Eddie,” and Anthony; his sisters-in-law, Carol (Andrew) Pirrota and Patricia (Colegero) Pirrotta; and his great-granddaughters, Jovie Madigan and Emilia Knutson.
