Lois Ann Welling, age 79, of Waite Park and formerly of Atwater, passed away Sunday, December 7, at her residence after an extended illness. Though she is no longer with us, her love, strength, and kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Montevideo. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Lois was born on August 12, 1946, in Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of Francis and Pearl (Gibbs) Bouska. She grew up in Montevideo, was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1964. On November 29, 1969, Lois was united in marriage to James Orven Welling. They lived in the Montevideo and Atwater communities prior to moving to Waite Park in 2009. Lois was employed with the ACGC School District for many years as a computer aide. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kandiyohi. Lois enjoyed puzzles, playing bingo, traveling, reading, and researching ancestry. She always cherished the times spent with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, James of Waite Park; two children, Michael Welling (and Jamie Walz) of St. Cloud and Michelle (and Darin) Orbeck of Cold Spring; five grandchildren and one sister, Elaine Mirsch (and Tom Schuppe) of Lakeville, besides other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert in 2003; and two sisters, Barbara Nicolay and Margaret McRoden.
