LeAnne Ruth Freeman

LeAnne R. Freeman, age 66, of St. Cloud and formerly of Willmar, passed away Sunday morning, June 2, at the St. Cloud Hospital. 

 A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar.  Interment will be at Grace West Lutheran Cemetery in Belgrade.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.  www.petersonbrothers.com

 LeAnne Ruth Freeman was born on October 17, 1957, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the daughter of Gayle and Evelyn (Refling) Freeman.  She grew up in St. Cloud, graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1976.  After high school, she attended the NDSU branch at Bottineau, ND and received an associate’s degree in Greenhouse Management.

 After working in numerous positions in the floral business, she then returned to school, graduating summa cum laude from St. Cloud State University with a degree in Recreational Therapy.  She was then hired at the Willmar Park Department, retiring in 2016.

 She enjoyed butterflies, and cultivated flowers in her yard to attract them. When her vision allowed, she did beautiful cross-stitching. She was a fan of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Lynx.

 Sadly, she suffered a stroke and was then also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. 

She continued to volunteer, with the Willmar Police Department and her church, among other organizations. In 2020, she moved into Talamore Senior Living in St. Cloud until her passing.

 She is survived by her brother, Jim Freeman of St. Augusta, MN and many dear friends who will miss her greatly.

 She was preceded in death by her parents.
