Kenneth Erickson, age 63, of Spicer died Monday afternoon, May 8th, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Faith Lutheran Church (310 Medayto Drive) in Spicer with Rev. Simon Fensom and Rev. Matthew Peterson officiating. Interment will be in the West Norway Lake Cemetery in rural Sunburg. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Kenneth Oliver Erickson was born May 27, 1942, on the family farm in Norway Lake Township, Kandiyohi County, the son of Elverd and Clara (Olson) Erickson. He grew up in the Sunburg and Brooten area, was baptized and confirmed at West Norway Lake Lutheran Church in Sunburg and graduated from Brooten High School in 1960. On September 23, 1978, he married LaVonne Anderson at Faith Lutheran Church and they made their home in Spicer. He worked as a farm hand and in construction prior to owning and operating Monson-Erickson Construction and Erickson-Rindahl Construction for 26 years. He also worked for Willmar Manufacturing and later Agco Manufacturing in Willmar and at Lakeside Foods in Brooten. Ken enjoyed hobby farming along with bowling, woodworking and watching sports. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer and served on many boards and committees at West Norway Lake Lutheran Church in Sunburg. He also served on the Willmar UHF board for 26 years.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonne of Spicer; children, Sonya of Spicer and Dianna of Fargo, North Dakota; three brothers, Arthur (and Carol) Erickson of St. Cloud, Ernest Erickson of Plymouth and Harlan Erickson of Bloomington; several nieces and nephews besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arnold and two sisters-in-law.
