ATWATER

Judy K. Wallin, age 59, of Atwater, died Saturday afternoon, May 27, at her home following an extended battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, May 31, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater with Rev. Daniel Belgum-Blad officiating. The interment will be at the Spicer City Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Atwater Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the memorial service. There will be no viewing.
Judy Kay Wallin was born on October 7, 1946, in Willmar, the daughter of Lillian P. (Heacock) and Marvin E. Sluka. She grew up in the rural Blomkest area, was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Olivia and received her early education in Blomkest. She moved with her family to Spicer in 1957, where she completed her education, graduating high school in 1965. She then moved to West Covina, California, where she attended Center Beauty School of Hair Design. After graduating, she returned to the Spicer area in 1966 and went to work for the Village Salon where she worked for 35 years. Judy moved to the Atwater area in 1969 and into Atwater in 1976. On June 1, 1986, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, she was married to Dennis Wallin and they made their home in Atwater. She was a past member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a current member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1986.
She is survived by her husband, Denny of Atwater; one son, Brian (and Holli) Kragenbring of Willmar; one daughter, Amy (and Michael) Krug of Atwater; one stepson, Shad and (Kathy) Wallin of Litchfield; two stepdaughters, Danita (and Jon) Hansen of Atwater and Cynthia (and Gregory) Schlueter of Maple Lake; one foster daugher; Kathy Johnson of Montevideo; two grandsons, Hayden and Logan Krug of Atwater; three stepgrandchildren, Dylan and Heather Schlueter of Maple Lake and Lily Hansen of Atwater and one foster granddaughter, Jessica Aase of Montevideo. Also surviving are her mother, Lillian Sluka of Spicer; two brothers, Marvin "Butch" (and Donna) Sluka of Fairbanks, Alaska and Edward (and Linda) Sluka of Spicer; two sisters, Marcia (and Wilton) Paul of New London and Mary (and Corey) Zehnder of Savage; a sister-in-law, Robin Sluka of Spicer; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Edward Sluka in 1986; a sister, Darla Zuroff on April 11; and a brother, Gary Sluka on May 12.
