John A. Huber, age 89, of Willmar, died Wednesday afternoon, March 7, at Prairie Senior Cottages in Willmar.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 12, Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Willmar Public Schools Foundation.
John Albert Huber was born October 4, 1928, in Belle Plaine, Minnesota, the son of Frank and Margaret (Luskey) Huber. He grew up and received his education in Belle Plaine, graduating from Belle Plaine High School. He furthered his education at the University of St. Thomas, where he earned both his bachelors' and master's degrees. John taught high school English at several schools around the country until 1962, when he became an English professor at the Willmar Community College. John along with other faculty members helped implement the accreditation of Willmar Community College. He taught at the community college for 25 years, retiring in 1987.
John served in the National Guard for a number of years. He enjoyed reading, especially history books. He also enjoyed planning his annual birthday party.
John is survived by two brothers: Jim Huber of Canby, MN, and Fran Huber of Belle Plaine, MN; a sister: Mary (and Graham) Jaros of East China, MI; a sister-in-law: Ivona "Toy" Huber of Belle Plaine, MN; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Mark and Art; and three sisters-in-law: Pat, Margaret, and Leona.
