Joan Annette Macik

Joan A. Macik, age 65, of Willmar, passed away Monday, December 15, at her residence.

A private graveside service will be held at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Arrangements are entrusted to Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com

Joan was born on May 28, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Vernon and Samuela (Gregory) Heyer. She grew up and received her education in the Cosmos community and later earned a BA degree. On June 4, 1976, Joan was united in marriage to Dale Macik. They made their home on a farm near Lake Lillian and were later divorced. She was employed for many years at Heartland Community Action. Later she was self-employed doing contract work for HR. She enjoyed traveling with family, cooking and spending time on the pontoon during the summer months.

She is survived by her special friend for over 25 years, Thomas Hoover of Willmar; two children, Cammi (and Dean) Kruse of Cosmos and Greg (and Gina) Macik of Willmar; and five grandchildren. Also surviving is her mother, Sammie Heyer of Willmar; sisters, Kim (and Paul) Milbradt of Belview and Vickie Jacobson-Ellingson of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded death by her father.
