Jerry Koopmeiners, age 81, of Willmar, passed away Monday, September 8, at CentraCare Rice Hospital.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by his celebration of life service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Jerry was born on April 7, 1944, in Melrose, Minnesota, the son of Henry and Olivia (Polman) Koopmeiners. He grew up and received his education in Melrose. Jerry served in the MN National Guard from 1962 to 1967. Jerry operated and managed turkey farms throughout West Central Minnesota for many years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by four children, Rick Koopmeiners of Montevideo, Russell Koopmeiners of Hutchinson, Ralph Koopmeiners of Osakis and Roxanne Koopmeiners of Easton, PA.; two brothers, Clarence Koopmeiners and Art (and Lucille) Koopmeiners; sister-in-law, Joan Koopmeiners; brother-in-law, Gene Geaser; and step-daughter, Missy Steffens of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; life companion, Karen Wiehr; two daughters, Renee Koopmeiners and Ramona Koopmeiners; three brothers, Gib (and Sally) Koopmeiners, Urban (and Dorothy) Koopmeiners and Eugene Koopmeiners; three sisters, Nellie (and Lawrence) Hollerman, Mary Geaser and Agnes (and Joe) Steinimann; sister-in-law, Kristine Koopmeiners; step-son, Mark Steffens and step-daughter, Mindy Link.
