Janet C. Johnson, age 92, of Spicer, passed away Saturday morning, March 30, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.

Janet Charlotte (Miller) Johnson was born on January 30, 1932, in a farmhouse in Harrison Township near Atwater, Minnesota to Charlie and Alma (Peterson) Miller, the eighth child of the family.  She was baptized on April 1, 1932, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater, where she was also confirmed and married in her later years.

Janet received her education at District #3, Atwater Public and Atwater High Schools where she graduated in 1949.  She worked in retail in Atwater for 5.5 years, as a stay-at-home mom for 7 years and then at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center for 31 years, of which 29 of those years were spent as a counselor with Emotional Disturbed Adolescents.  She retired in 1994.

Janet married Roger Johnson in 1955 and raised their 4 children, Gerald, Nancy, James and Calvin.  They lived in the communities of Diamond Lake, Spicer and New London.  Besides their jobs, they also grew strawberries and raspberries to sell.  They also hunted frogs and sold them for medical purposes and later owned and operated Johnson Lawn Services.

Janet was a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1963.  She participated in WECLA, greetings and communion helper and quilting.  Janet was an active member of the Spicer American Legion Auxiliary and held many offices.  Janet was co-chairman of the American Red Cross Blood drives for the Spicer area for many years.

Janet enjoyed flowers, caring for her lawns, baking and making Christmas lefsa, being active in card club and spending time with her family and friends.  Janet loved to talk about old memories with family and friends too (not forgetting any details).

She is survived by her four children, Gerald of Hawick, Nancy (and Lyle) Palmquist of New London, James of Spicer and Calvin of Spicer; four grandchildren, Shanna Palmquist (and Duane Friehl), Shad Palmquist (and Tonya Meagher), Cody (and Megan) Johnson and Nathan (and Allie) Johnson; six greatgrandchildren, Ayden Friehl, Levi, Eli and Ethan Johnson, Tucker and Jada Johnson and a sister-in-law, Iris Johnson, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger in 2009; a grandson, Jeremy Johnson in 2001; five brothers, Lawrence, Vernon, George, Newell and Phillip; two twin sisters, Doris Berscheid and Dorothy Johnson; several sisters in law, brothers in law and nieces and nephews.
