James Brown

James "Jim" M. Brown, age 61, of Olivia and formerly of Willmar, died Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be from at 12 noon until the time of the service.

James "Jim" Michael Brown was born on November 10, 1955, in Morris, Minnesota, the son of John Edmond and Grace (Williamson) Brown. He grew up in Chokio, graduated from Chokio-Alberta High School in 1974 and attended technical college. He lived and worked throughout Minnesota. From 1985 to 2015, Jim was self-employed as a Turkey grower and farmer near Kandiyohi. In 1989, Jim was married to Kathy Lou Eliason. They lived in the communities of Atwater, Kandiyohi, Willmar and Olivia. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, playing city league softball and listening to country music. He enjoyed attending Winstock and bonfires with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Olivia; three children, Jennifer Brown of Carroll, IA., Letina Brown of Evansville and Zach (and Christina) Eliason of Rogers; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Fran Brown of St. Paul and Norman Wade of Park Rapids; and a sister-in-law, Carol Wade of St. Cloud, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, LuVern Wade, Elwood Wade and Sharon Hanson.
