Hazel D. Sundquist, age 92, of Willmar, died Monday morning, Feb. 24, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, Mar. 1, at the Bethesda Grand Chapel in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com
Hazel Delores (Agre) Sundquist was born October 20, 1927 in Granite Falls, MN, daughter of Julius and Annie Agre. She was baptized, confirmed, and attended Hawk Creek Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart, MN. She grew up on a farm west of Sacred Heart, MN. She attended and graduated from Sacred Heart High School.
Hazel married Harlen Delmore Sundquist on November 23, 1947. They farmed south of Sacred Heart and also ran the Sunquist Drive-in Café with their son, Jeff and daughter-in-law, Lynette. They moved to Willmar in 1976.
Hazel was a member of the Ladies American Auxiliary, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, a teacher for the Head Start program in Sacred Heart, and worked for 15 ½ years at JoAnn Fabrics in Willmar, MN. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, dancing, singing, and quilting. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Hazel is survived by her three daughters, Leora (Jan) Glinvad of Vejle, Denmark; Karen Auer (Bob) of Hutchinson, MN; Mary Tallakson (Duane) of New London, MN; daughter-in-law, Lynette Sundquist of St.Cloud, MN; and son-in-law, JP Auer of Albany, MN. She has 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Annie Agre; brother, Vernon Agre; sister, Vera Agre (and Alvin); husband, Harlen Sundquist; son, Jeff Sundquist; son-in-law, Brad Tallakson; and nephew, Kenneth Samuelson.
