Harold Beckmann

August 24, 1929 — February 9, 2007

Harold L. Beckmann, age 77, of rural Raymond, died Friday evening February 9, at the Clara City Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 1 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Raymond with Rev. Barb Jones officiating. Interment will be in the Bethany Reformed Cemetery in Clara City. Military honors will be provided by the Willmar V.F.W. Post. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

Harold Beckmann was born on August 24, 1929, in Lone Tree Township, the son of Christina (Van Heuveln) and Louis Beckmann. He grew up in the rural Raymond community, was baptized and confirmed at the Bethany Reformed Church and attended the District 65 School. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. On July 21, 1956, at the Rosendale Methodist Church, he was married to Evelyn DeGeest. They made their home on the family farm in Lone Tree Township and Harold was employed for 27 years at the VSC Stores in Clara City and later at the Friendship Homes in Montevideo. He served on the church board, the Raymond Sportman's Club and the VFW Post in Willmar.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; four children, Theresa (and Rick) Wallace of Raymond, Timothy (and special friend, Kristin Cadwell) of Marietta, Tina Beckmann of Willmar, Troy Beckmann of Raymond; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret (and Kone) Zimmer of Pennock, Marcella (and Mel) DeGeest of Bloomington; two brothers, Clarence (and Esther) Beckmann of Sartell, Lloyd (and Alice) Beckmann of Clara City and a brother-in-law, Floyd Gieseke of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Martha Ann Gieseke; an unborn grandchild and a nephew.
