Gregory "Greg" Wayne Block, age 75, of rural Kandiyohi, passed away Friday, July 19, at United Hospital in St. Paul.
A celebration of life will be held from 4-7 p.m. with military honors presented at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, at the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. Greg was born on October 10, 1948, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Wayne and Shirley (Fritz) Block. He grew up on a farm near Kandiyohi and graduated from Willmar High School in 1966. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Greg was employed for over 22 years with the Burlington Northern Railroad.
Greg enjoyed gardening and sharing his harvest with friends and neighbors, annual fishing trips to Canada and bird watching. Greg cherished time spent with his beloved grandchildren. He was a member of the Purple Martin Conservation Association and American Legion Post.
He is survived by his special friend and companion for over 25 years, Rose Cleary of Willmar; two sons, Paul (and Tiffany) Block of Buffalo and Travis (and Katie) Block of Plymouth; four grandchildren, Brayden, Teagan and Brody Block and Georgia Wachtler. Also surviving are three sisters, Connie Peters of Willmar, Cheryl (and Lyndon) Hansen of Kandiyohi and Marybeth Block (and special friend, Bryan Johnson) of Kandiyohi, besides other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
