Glenda L. Nissen, age 73, of Willmar died unexpectedly Monday morning, October 30, at her home.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Willmar.  Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, Immanuel Lutheran Church or donors' choice are preferred.  Arrangements are entrusted to Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

 

Glenda Lynnette Nissen was born on February 20, 1950, in Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Reka (Ackerman) Negen.  She was Baptized into Christ at the Christian Reformed Church in Raymond.  Glenda grew up in various places throughout central Minnesota in her youth, eventually calling Willmar her home and graduating from Willmar High School in 1968.  She was united in marriage to Roland “Rollie” Nissen on August 2, 1968, at the Christian Reformed Church in Willmar.  They recently celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary.  One year after their marriage they welcomed their first child, Lisa and four years later their son, Derek.  Glenda worked a few part-time jobs while being a new mother and eventually became employed with Kandiyohi County as a Financial Specialist where she worked for over 41 years. In her free time, Glenda enjoyed traveling, quilting, scrapbooking, shopping, and her dog Buddy.  Glenda and Rollie enjoyed many adventures including trips to Italy, Norway, Iceland, Scotland, Austria, Switzerland and Germany.  Glenda had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched.

 

She is survived by her loving husband, Rollie; her two children, Lisa Burke of New London and Derek (and Lynette) Nissen of Northfield; five grandchildren, Isaac, Josh, Sam, Landon and Luke and six great grandchildren, Luke, Tommy, Kara, Charlotte, Kinsley and Audrey.  Also surviving is one brother, Al (and Ardie) Negen of New London and one sister, Lorna (and Rollie) Moll of Beaver Dam, WI., besides other relatives and many friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marlys Ruis and a son-in-law, Kevin Burke in April of 2023.
