Gary D. Peterson, age 57, of Priam, died Friday morning, April 14th, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 3 P.M., Saturday, April 22nd, at the Roseville Cemetery in Hawick. Military Honors will be provided by the Willmar V.F.W. and American Legion. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Gary Dean Peterson was born on September 4, 1948 in Springfield, Minnesota, the son of Dorothy (Drake) and Roy Peterson. He attended school in Lamberton, Minnesota and later graduated from Willmar High School in 1966. He was confirmed at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. In January of 1969, Gary joined the Army and served in Viet Nam as a Medic and was medically discharged in 1970. Gary married Donna Barber in 1970. Gary met Bonnie Hanson in 1980 and they married on April 24, 1989. Throughout his life, Gary farmed with his brother-in-law, worked mechanics with his father and worked on the carnivals in the surrounding area. He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to the casinos once in a while and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Priam, children; Twyla (and Nathan) Meyer of Arizona, Sandy Peterson of Priam, Gary (and Tiffany) Peterson, Jr. of Willmar, Paul Peterson of Priam, Dean (and Heidi) Peterson of Pennock, Shannon Betker of Willmar, Mike (and Stacy) Hanson of Starbuck, Scott (and Vi) Hanson of New London, Tommy (and Aimi) Word of Seattle, Washington, and Michael (and Amber) Olson of Willmar and 13 grandchildren. Also surviving is his best friend, Jeremy Hahn besides other relatives and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, one son, (James Roy Peterson), one daughter (Liveda), two granddaughters (Rachel and Hailey) and one sister (Phyllis Jenniges).
