Florence Mensing

Florence Mensing, age 93, of Atwater, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 3.

Funeral services for Florence will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at St. John Lutheran Church in rural Atwater.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home, www.petersonbrothers.com.

Florence Irene Mensing was born July 6, 1924, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Lulu (Norton) Holle. She grew up and received her education in Blue Earth, graduating from Blue Earth High School in 1942. Following high school, she worked at the grocery store in Blue Earth. On October 23, 1946, she married Elwin C. Mensing. They lived and farmed near Truman, Minnesota. In 1957, they moved to the Atwater area, where they continued to farm. After Elwin's death in 1979, Florence moved into Atwater.

Florence was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and was active in Ladies Aid. She enjoyed flower gardening, shopping, and baking, and especially enjoyed baking with her granddaughters at Christmastime.

She is survived by her three children: Paul (and Lori) Mensing of Atwater, Eula Grafenstein of Kandiyohi, and Duane Mensing of Atwater; five grandchildren: Mark (and Tori) Shaw, Holly (and Bryan) Richter, Britney (and Sky) Thompson, Sarah Grafenstein (and Alex), and Desarae (and Tyler) Larson; and ten great-grandchildren: Katie, Thomas, Ethan, Zachary, Joshua, Dawson, Alexis, Alejandro Jr., Austin, and Axyl. Also surviving are a brother: Wayne (and Janine) Holle of Moses Lake, WA; a sister: Evelyn Eernisse of Cincinnati, OH; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elwin; a brother: Harold Holle; and her twin brother: Floyd Holle.
