Evelyn Messenbrink

August 7, 1925 — October 22, 2006

Evelyn D. Messenbrink, age 81, of Willmar, died Sunday evening, October 22nd, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, October 26th, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Pablo Obregon officiating. The interment will be at the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church.
Evelyn Deloris Messenbrink was born on August 7, 1925, in Olivia, Minnesota, the daughter of Sophia (Winkler) and August John Steffel. She grew up and attended school in that area. In 1969 after her parents death, she moved to Willmar and resided at Kindelhope where she met her husband. On April 17, 1977, in Atwater, she was married to Lewis John Messenbrink and they made their home in an apartment in Willmar. Evelyn worked for may years with West Central Industries doing sewing and later she worked for the Willmar Jr. High School doing laundry for the swimming program. She was very active in the Bethesda Day Care Program and enjoyed their many field trips and projects. Evelyn enjoyed her long walks visiting all her friends at the various merchants at the malls, loved to watch the Twins play and her flowers that she grew.
Evelyn is survived by one brother, Vern (and Alyce) Steffel of St. Louis Park, one sister, Lorena (and Edwin) Boelter of Cosmos and one foster brother, Duane (and Alice) Vinar of Watkins. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews; Marie Lingl, Richard (and Joyce) Lingl, June (and Russel) Mickelson, Allen Boelter, Deborah Lehr, Diana Johanneck, Duane Vinar, Jr., Donna Johanneck, Dwight Vinar, Dorothy Krogen, Doris Redepenning, and DeLayne Johnson, beside other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Lewis in 1993), one sister (Dorothy Hacker), one brother (Donald Steffel) and three nephews (David Boelter, Scott Lingl and Jason Lingl).
