Eugene Latuska

Eugene "Geno" Latuska, age 63, of Atwater, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 8, while working in Litchfield.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be at Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery in Kandiyohi. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home in Atwater and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Eugene Charles Latuska was born September 21, 1954, in Willmar, the son of Walter and Laura (Samp) Latuska. He grew up on the family farm near Kandiyohi and was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi. He attended school in Kandiyohi through 8th grade and then attended Willmar High School, graduating in 1972. Geno later moved to Atwater and followed his father into the roofing business, operating Geno's Roofing in Atwater.

Geno enjoyed fishing, music, reading and attending threshing shows. Most of all he loved to spend time with people and especially enjoyed morning coffee at Casey's and dinner at the Handle Bar in Atwater.

He is survived by a brother: Wally (and Debbie) Latuska of Hermantown, MN; two sisters: Debra Wiley and Dona Gerdes, both of Bakersfield, CA; his nieces and nephews: Kelli Latuska (and Tony Bennett), Jamie Postal, Justin (and Becky) Kujala, Stephanie (and Colin) Normington, Jeremy (and Cindy) Kujala, Greg (and Nickie) Jans, Brad (and Bonnie) Jans, and Amy (and Doug) Gilbertson; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Arleen Jans; and three brothers-in-law: Alvin Jans, Marshall Wiley, and Glenn Gerdes.
