Estella "Stella" L. Masters, age 96, of Willmar, passed away Sunday, October 5, at Cura of Willmar.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. followed by her celebration of life service at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 10, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, at the Roseville Cemetery in Hawick. Arrangements are entrusted to Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Stella was born on March 22, 1929, in Priam, Minnesota, the daughter of Ralph and Hulda (Truehl) Mead. She grew up in the Hawick community and received her education in a country schoolhouse. On July 9, 1966, Stella was united in marriage to Sherman Masters and they lived in the communities of Hawick, Willmar and Spicer. Stella worked at Town Talk Cafe, Willmar Cookie Company and Jennie-O Foods. After her retirement, she worked as a PCA (Personal Care Attendant) for her granddaughter, Cassie. Stella was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed embroidery, playing BINGO and spending time with family and friends. She also liked going on outings (grandkids sporting events, trips, or just a car ride). Stella lived in Cottonwood Field Crest Assisted living for 3 years before going into Cura of Willmar in February of 2025.
She is survived by her three children, Karen (and Dan) Louwagie of Cottonwood, Mary (and Keith) Roediger of Darwin and Wayne (and Liz) Mead of Mesa, AZ.; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one brother-in-law, Herb Neu of Litchfield, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Cassandra Roediger (on October 1, 2022); her parents; six sisters, Margaret, Vera, Hattie, Betty, Minnie and Cynthia; and four brothers, Russell, Wilbur, Junior and Charles.
