Estelle Anna Pickle, age 95, of Atwater, passed away Friday, April 24, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by her celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Paynesville Senior Dining or Bethlehem Lutheran Church are preferred. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Estelle Anna Pickle was born June 14, 1930, in Rosewood, Minnesota, to Carl and Bertha (Sandry) Duis. At age 6, she moved with her family to a farm south of Hawick. She attended country School District 92 and graduated from New London High School in 1948.
On December 30, 1951, she was united in marriage to LaVern Pickle at Zion Lutheran Church in Hawick. This union was blessed with 5 children, Steven, Jean, Bob, Jane and Joani.
After their marriage, they moved to Valdosta, Georgia for 9 months while LaVern completed his duty in the U.S. Air Force. They then moved to the Atwater, Minnesota area. Estelle worked at the Atwater DAC for 29 years, retiring in 1996. They moved to Paynesville in 2008 and volunteered at the Paynesville Senior Dining.
Estelle was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater. She loved being a Grandma and Great Grandma as well as cooking, baking, gardening, and fishing!
She is survived by her five children, Steven (and Brenda) Pickle of Pelican Rapids, Jean (and Ron) Redig of Waterloo, Iowa, Robert (and Kathy) Pickle of North Fort Myers, Florida, Jane Pickle of Willmar and Joani McNamara of Cedar Falls, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren, Nicole (Carey) Miller; Virginia (Lovell) Ludd; Marie (Dakota) Albrecht; Andrew and (Cathy) Carlson; Chad (Melissa) Carlson; Nicholas (Krista) Carlson; Wendy (Nick) Hwang; Amanda Covert; Jennifer (Sandy) Garland; Amaiyah Hope Korf; Gracelynn Honor Korf; Zander Josiah Korf; Ethan (Melissa) Korf; Anne-Elizabeth (Josiah) Smith; Aislynn Joy Korf; Brielle (Shad) Korf; Piper Korf; and many great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Elaine Solbrack of Washington; one brother-in-law, Lowell Burgener of Colorado, and one sister-in-law, Leone Homes of Minneapolis.
Estelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LaVern Pickle in 2016; five sisters and their spouses, Lillian (and Henry) Solbrack, Mildred (and Harry) Nelson, Carol (and Algene) Otteson, Lois Burgerner; and Sharron (and Dean) Johnson; brother-in-law, Irvin Solbrack; and also in-laws, Dorthy and Ed Bremer; Alice and Les Alseth and Robert Homes.
