Ernest Erickson

Ernest Clifton Erickson, age 86, of Sunburg, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, Nov. 21, at his residence in Sunburg.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, at West Norway Lake Lutheran Cemetery in Sunburg. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Sunburg Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com

Ernest Clifton Erickson was born on March 17, 1934, on the family farm near Sunburg, Minnesota, the son of Elverd and Clara (Olson) Erickson. He grew up and received his education in the Sunburg community. In 1953, he moved to Plymouth and began working as a laborer for several manufacturing businesses. On November 18, 1967, Ernest was married to Gertrude Froese and they made their home in Plymouth. They were members of Peace Lutheran Church in Plymouth. In 2005, Gertrude passed away and in October 2014, Ernest returned to the Sunburg community. He was a current member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. His hobbies included playing the accordion, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law, LaVonne Erickson of Brooten and Carol Erickson of St. Cloud; one nephew, Steven Erickson of Missouri; three nieces, Kimberly Olson of Anoka, Sonya Erickson of Brooten and Dianna Erickson of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, Arthur, Arnold, Harlan and Kenneth; two nieces, Debbie Winter and Jennifer Erickson and a sister-in-law, Loucella "Lollie" Erickson.
