Elaine Wetzel

Elaine J. Wetzel, age 68, of Spicer, died Friday morning, Janaury 26, at her home.


A visitation for Elaine will be held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.


Elaine June Wetzel was born on April 11, 1949, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Aaron and June (Fischer) Schafer. She grew up and received her education in the Danube community. On September 1, 1967, Elaine was united in marriage to Kenneth Emil Wetzel. They lived in rural Danube and later moved to Long Lake near Spicer. Elaine was employed for over 25 years at Jennie-O Foods as a line worker.


Elaine was very fussy about her hair, nails and clothes. She always made sure her kids clothes were always clean. She enjoyed flowers, dogs and horses, Her hobbies included camping, riding horse, going on wagon train rides with a team of horses and helping Ken in the Harness Shop with assorted jobs.


She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth; four children, Larry Wetzel (and Karen Disrud) of Glenwood, Lisa Jensen (and Mark Nemitz) of Redwood Falls, Jason Wetzel of Buhl and Tony Wetzel (and Michelle Joslin) of Spicer and four grandchildren, Stephanie (and Dillon) Thooft, Justin Jensen, Nick Wetzel (and Meghan Abner) and Mitchell Wetzel. Also surviving are two sisters, Jenny (and Terry) Sorenson of Lakeville and Mary (and Steve) Strey of Bird Island; two brothers, Frank (and Candy) Schafer of River Falls, WI., and John (and Deb) Schafer of Litchfield; and one brother-in-law, Curt (and Lisa) Huls of Hutchinson, besides other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Calvin Schafer and one sister, LuAnn Huls.
