Edward G. Ruchti, age 87, of Kerkhoven, passed away Thursday, December 9, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
A private family service will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Willmar. Interment will be at the Sunburg Free Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Edward Gordon Ruchti was born on December 27, 1933, near Penncok, Minnesota, the son of Edward and Pearl (Ashton) Ruchti. He grew up and received his education in the rural Pennock area. On January 9, 1954, Edward was united in marriage to Eleanor Hanson and they made their home in the Sunburg community. Edward was self-employed as a truck driver hauling aggregate and hazardous material for Western Co-Op in Montevideo. He was a current member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church. Edward enjoyed traveling and spending the winters down South. He will be best remembered for his extremely hard work ethic.
He is survived by his four children, Alan (and Joanie) Ruchti of Ontonagon, MI., Robin (and Virgil) Thompson of Sunburg, Linda (and Kent) Swanson of Brooten and Kelly (and Karen) Ruchti of Wasilla, AK.; fifteen grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Eugene (and Sharon) Ruchti of Atwater and one sister, Lillian (and Lloyd) Pregler of Paynesville, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor in 2017; two grandsons, Lance Thompson and Morgan Ruchti; one great granddaughter, Eden Thompson and three siblings, Francis Ruchti, Violet Pregler and Lena Benson.
