Doris Pitcher

Doris M. Pitcher, age 91, of Spicer, died Saturday evening, May 28, at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, at the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church near Willmar. Interment will be at the Spicer City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. www.petersonbrothers.com

Doris Marion Pitcher was born on April 17, 1925, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Bendie and Gladys (Hagen) Bergeson. She grew up in Willmar, attended District #70 School and graduated from Willmar High School in 1943. On March 31, 1945, at the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, Doris was united in marriage to Marvin Willard Pitcher and they were blessed with one daughter, Nila. They made their home in the Spicer community where Doris worked hard as a homemaker. Doris was a past member of Faith Lutheran Church and was active in various church women's activities. In 2010, Doris moved into Rice Care Center and most recently resided at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home. Doris enjoyed having coffee with her neighbors, going on walks, writing in her journal daily and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Deanna (and Milton) Click of Champlin and Trent Carlson of California; five great grandchildren, Maggie Fortman (and fiancé, Zach Burnette), Melissa (and Kyle) Vasen, Jeremy (and Jen) Click, Cass Carlson and Jacob Carlson; three great great grandchildren, Trevor Patterson, Tristen Click and Ty Click; and one brother, Marlin Bergeson of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin in 1991; and her daughter, Nila Carlson in 2009.
