Darlene Kirk

Darlene J. Kirk, age 83, of Atwater, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 8, at Sunny View Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 11, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in Union Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Darlene Joy Kirk was born on October 29, 1937, in Atwater, Minnesota, the daughter of Victor and Myrtle (Peterson) Frost.  She grew up in Atwater, was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from Atwater High School in 1955.  On November 24, 1953, She was married to Robert W. Kirk.  They lived and farmed in the Atwater community.  Darlene was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years.  She was also involved with 4-H, garden club and home extension.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts and animals, especially dogs.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Kirk of Atwater; three daughters, Linda (and LeRoy) Burns of Atwater, Becky (and Joe) Fordyce of Atwater and Kristi Wareing (and fiancé, Jason Lee) of Clear Lake; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn son, Kyle and one brother, Wyman Frost.
