Curtis Peterson

Curtis Brownell Peterson, age 78, of New Albany, Indiana, formerly of Willmar, died peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on June 14, from Glioblastoma brain cancer.

Curt was born October 5, 1942, at Rice Hospital in Willmar to the late Ralph and Brownell Peterson. He  grew up in Willmar, graduated from Willmar High School in 1960 and attended Macalester College in St. Paul.  He completed his college at Indiana University Southwest in New Albany and was employed by Indiana University.  Curt also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years, retiring as a 1st Lieutenant.

Curt was an active Bridge player in New Albany.  He enjoyed hiking the Grand Canyon with the Grand Canyon Boys and was an avid tennis player. He was musical, playing the trombone, piano and organ.  He was also a collector of many record albums and cd’s.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy Sanford Peterson; his daughter, Elizabeth (and Brent) Starkey; one granddaughter, Sarah Starkey; one brother, Rolf (and Caryl) Peterson of Willmar, MN., and one sister, Linda Peterson (and Paul Sylte) of Mesa, AZ., besides many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Curt was proceeded in death by his parents, Ralph and Brownell Peterson and his brother, Terry Peterson.
