Chester Leo Woltjer

Chester Leo Woltjer, age 88, of Pennock, passed away Sunday, November 2, at his residence following an extended illness.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com

Chester was born on February 8, 1937, on the family farm near Pennock, the son of Niel and Elise (Ruchti) Woltjer. He grew up and received his education in the rural Pennock community. At an early age, Chester began farming with his father and brothers. He was married to Alvina Nelson and to this union, they were blessed with 5 children.  They made their home on the family homestead and were later divorced.

On July 11, 1991, Chester was united in marriage to Geraldine "Gerry" Iverson.  They continued living on the family homestead and were blessed with one son, Neil.  Chester was engaged in farming his entire life and also drove semi-truck for over 20 years.

Chester enjoyed the farm life, hunting, fishing and very much loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Gerry; children, Anita Kriegh of Duluth, Chester Jr. (and Rhonda) Woltjer of Grand Junction, Colorado, Tim (and Sherry) Woltjer of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, Kristy Woltjer of Mahnomen and Neil Woltjer of Pennock; and seven grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela in 2020; his parents; and nine siblings, Mel, Fred, Herman, Charles, Louis, Elzo, Trudy, Lorraine and Betty.
