Cheryl “Cherry” Lee Lukason was born on February 27, 1946, the 7th child of Raymond Stanley Hopkins and Pearl Isabella Norbie. After the passing of her mother when Cheryl was only 3 months old, she was blessed with many surrogate mothers throughout her life, but none more beloved than her sisters, Janet, Janelle, and Betty Lou.
Cheryl leaves behind a legacy of living life with an open and accepting heart, as well as incredible strength and resilience through the many obstacles and hardships she faced. No matter how many times life required her to begin again, she persevered with courage and grace. She was saved by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ at 23 years old on December 2nd, 1969 while reading Romans 5 verse 6.
Cheryl is proceeded in death by her parents Pearl and Raymond Hopkins. Her brothers Laverne Norbie, Delbert Hopkins, Richard Hopkins and sisters Betty Lou Manley, Janet Hagen, and Janelle VanHeuveln. Her legacy will live on through her four children: David Lukason (Kelly Lukason) of Sartell, Michelle Shirley (William Shirley) of Clearwater, Robert Lukason (Carmen Lukason) of Otsego, and Steven Lukason (Lindsey Lukason) of Sartell; her eight grandchildren; and her twelve great-grandchildren.
Go rest high on that mountain, for your work on Earth is done. Return to the arms of the Lord, for you shall forever remain in our hearts.
