Cheryl Jean Baumgartner

Cheryl J. Baumgartner, age 70, of Willmar, passed away Wednesday, September 2, at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a courageous fight against cancer.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by her celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 25, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Cheryl was born on November 8, 1955, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Richard and MaryAnn Caskey.  She grew up in Willmar, was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church and received her education in Willmar, earning her GED in 1974.  On June 24, 2000, Cheryl married Fred Baumgartner at Big Kandi Lake, and they made their home in the Willmar community.  Cheryl had various jobs.  She worked at Best Western, Pizza Hut and J.C. Pennys.

Cheryl favorite job was crafting.  She sold her handmade items at many area craft shows and at the farmer's market for many years.  Cheryl loved seeing the smiles on the little ones' faces and met so many interesting people along the way.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was an excellent seamstress.

Cheryl and Fred enjoyed camping with their boys and grandkids.  She loved when her family came to visit or facetimed.  It brought much joy to receive family photos on Facebook.  Cheryl was proud of her family.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Fred; two sons, Chris Caskey of Prior Lake and John Baumgartner of Willmar; three grandchildren, Ali Caskey (and Jacob Pomrenke) of Pace, FL., Andy (and Jenna) Caskey of Lakeville and AJ (and Brice) Caskey of Lakeville; and three great grandchildren, Mason and Mckenna Caskey and another due in January.  Also surviving are four siblings, Doug (and Joyce) Caskey of Biloxi, MS., Shirley Fostervold of Willmar, Sandy (and Melvin) Rohner of Spicer and Pam (and Ralph) Wold of Willmar; and three nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one nephew; and her mother-in-law.

Cheryl's family extends their sincere appreciation for all those who called, sent cards or came to visit her while she fought a courageous battle against cancer, it meant a lot and brought her much joy.
