Carolyn Sundin

June 15, 1942 — January 7, 2020

Carolyn Rae Sundin, age 77, of Willmar, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 7, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Bethel Lutheran Church.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Carolyn Rae Sundin was born on June 15, 1942, in Seattle, WA., the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Eckinger) Morgan.  She grew up in Independence, MO., graduated from Central High School in 1960 and attended Aladdin Beauty College in Kansas City, MO.  On December 2, 1967, Carolyn was united in marriage to John Markus Sundin and made their home in Lake Lillian.  Carolyn owned and operated several beauty salons over the years including, The Hair Keeper.  She was employed as a beautician her entire life, finally retiring at the age of 73.  She was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was active as a Sunday school teacher, bible study and home extension.  Carolyn enjoyed the friendships and conversations with her all her clients and enjoyed making people feel good about themselves.  She cherished all the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Carolyn was an avid sports fan, especially of the Minnesota teams.

She is survived by her children, Daniel, Gary and Mary Sundin, all of Willmar; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Also surviving are two siblings, Gary (and Pat) Morgan of Raytown, MO., and Lorraine (and Al) Gautieri of Nixa, MO., besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 2013; a son, Johnny Ray in 2016, and a great grandson, Gionni Dominguez.
