Carol Rettmer

Carol M. Rettmer, age 80, of Willmar, died Wednesday morning, May 23, at the Rice Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 11 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Richard Underdahl-Peirce officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Sunday at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday. A public memorial service under the auspices of the Order of the Eastern Star will be held on Sunday. 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials to the Shriners Hospital for Children in the Twin Cities are preferred.

Carol Rettmer was born on March 8, 1927, in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, the daughter of Melvin and Julia (Oien) Paulsness. She grew up in Litchfield, Atwater and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and graduated from high school in San Franscisco, California. On September 28, 1947, she married Harnold F. Rettmer in Sioux Falls. They lived in Sioux Falls, Watertown, South Dakota, Madison, South Dakota, and Wichita, Kansas, before returning to Wilimar in 1987. She was employed in retail sales for Macy's and Shepler's. She was a member of the Eastern Star, past president of the Willmar Area Shrine Club Auxiliary, Home Extension, Homemakers, and church women's activities.

She is survived by her husband, Harn; three daughters, Renee (and Tom) Sawyer of Wichita, Kansas, Robin Rettmer of Tucson, Arizona, and Rhonda (and David) Quisenberry of Glendale, Arizona; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Jerome (and Marlys) Paulsness of Seattle, Washington, and Robert (and Beverly) Paulsness of Bakersfield, California, besides other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ivan.
