Carl Fredrick

Carl Fred Fredrick, age 79, of Atwater, died unexpectedly Friday morning, Oct. 27, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Harrison Community Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at Oakside Cemetery. Military honors provided by the Atwater American Legion Post. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Monday, Oct. 30, at the Atwater Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Carl was born on February 2, 1927, in Georgeville, Minnesota, the son of Fred "Fritz" L. and Agnes R. (Berg) Fredrick. He grew up and received his education in Georgeville. From 1950 to 1952, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On October 26, 1952, Carl was united in marriage to Leone M. Kragenbring and they made their home in Montevideo. They later moved to the rural Atwater community and were engaged in farming. Carl retired from farming in 1992 and moved into Atwater in 1995. He was a member of Harrison Community Presbyterian Church serving as an usher and elder. He was also a member of the Atwater American Legion Post #375. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing card games and horse shoes, watching sports events, visiting with friends and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Leone of Atwater; five children, Scott (and Debb) Fredrick of Spicer, Karla Straumann of Atwater, Cheryl (and Duane) Krotzer of Milaca, Linda (and David) Malvin of Atwater and Brian (and Rachelle) Fredrick of Spicer; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Donald Fredrick of Melrose, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three grandchildren, Clint, Carl and Manaha, and one sister, Charlotte Halvorson.
