Bruce T. Roberts, age 71, of Canby and formerly of Montevideo and Minneapolis, passed away, Friday, May 15, at Johnson Memorial Health Services in Dawson.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by his celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. A luncheon and continued fellowship will follow at the Willmar Community Center. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petesonbrothers.com
Bruce was born on December 30, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Sidney and Arline (Thompson) Roberts. He grew up and received his education in Minneapolis. Bruce worked in various general labor, janitorial and upholstery jobs throughout his life. In 1972, he married Gail Thompson. They made their home in Brooklyn Park and were blessed with two children, Jeannie and Vicky. They later divorced. From 1980 to 1985, his life companion was Jeri Lingwall. They lived in Minneapolis and were blessed with a daughter Angie. In 2006, Bruce moved to Montevideo and later to Canby when he began facing health issues. Bruce enjoyed woodworking and watching TV (especially the news the weather).
He is survived by six children, Jeannie Roberts of Minneapolis, Vicky Roberts (and Mark Schultz) of Rogers, Angie (and Tim) Jensen of Canby, Charles (and Missy) Powless of Minneapolis, Sonya Powless of Minneapolis, and Jerome "Butter" (and Shanan) Powless of Aitkin; eighteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are two siblings, Dennis (and Nancy) Roberts of Breckenridge and Carol Amoto of Ohio, besides other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Wanda Dorman, Sidney "Butch" Roberts, Steven Roberts and Robin "Robbie" Roberts.
